How can a wiki be applied in the classroom?

This is something that I wondered about when the Technology and Instruction class first began. If anyone can edit a wiki, how could people know if the information on it is accurate? Then, I learned that the person who established the wiki could change the information back to how it originally was. That made me feel better about using them in the classroom.

I think that a wiki should definitely be used in the classroom. Students can post information for their classmates to view. Students can share their thoughts, and build off each other (through reading what other students have written). Teachers can also post work (via videos or notes) for students to use when they are struggling on a topic in class, or just want to review what was learned. Parents can view the wiki to see what their children are learning in school, as well as to communicate with the teacher. Students can also learn how to be responsible with technology, with the teacher guiding them along. I believe that a wiki is beneficial to everyone involved in a classroom.
